Fully funded Ph.D. positions are available in the AIMS Lab led by Chao Wang in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering and Construction (CEEC) at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV), starting in Spring or Fall 2027.
Qualifications
Applicants should have:
- A B.S. or M.S. degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Materials Science, Applied Mechanics, or a related field.
- Strong analytical and programming skills.
- Experience in one or more of the following areas is desirable:
- Finite element methods
- Computational mechanics
- Topology optimization
- AI for engineering design
- Soft materials and robotics
- Structural dynamics
- Additive manufacturing
Funding
Competitive funding will be provided through research assistantships, including tuition support and a stipend, subject to university and grant policies.
